Tendril climber, yellowish-brown hispid stems, axillary tendrils. Hispid-hirsute 3-5 lobed leaves to 80mm x 70mm, Less hairy than P. foetida. Axillary solitary white-tinged blue flowers to 15mm long with bracts to 35mm long, 5 sepals, 5 petals with several series of white & purple filaments to 1.5mm long. Glabrous ribbed yellow edible berry to 30mm diameter.
