Woody perennial evergreen tendril liana with 4-6 branched tendrils, leaves ternate, red-villous beneath, bristly-serrated, 3-5 glabrous dentate mucronate leaflets to 150mm long, greenish flowers with 2mm petals in leaf-opposed panicles or corymbs to 80mm x 60mm, red peduncles, 4 petals to 5mm long, fruit a black berry to 8mm diameter
