Woody deciduous tendril liana with 4-7 branched tendrils, 5 leaflet silvery marked palmate dark green leaves, purple beneath, sometimes pink in centre, turning bright red in Autumn, variegation fades in full sun. Small white flowers in panicles with 2mm petals, fruit a blue berry to 10mm diameter
