Large hispid herbaceous annual tendril liana with grooved angled scabrid stems to 3m. 3-5 lobed leaves to 100mm x 95mm, 75mm long, irregularly toothed lobes hairy both surfaces. Yellow hispid flowers, male flowers in fascicles of 1-6, with hispid calyx to 6mm long,pale yellow to orange corolla to 12mm diameter, lobes to 11mm long, female flowers with hispid ovary. Pale yellow-green to orange fruit with black pubescence & green or brown succulent prickles, 27mm x 21mm.
