Herbaceous glabrous woody twiner with 4-winged stems. 3-7-lobed mucronulate leaves 125mm long x 175mm, lobes sometimes toothed to 100mm long. Axillary inflorescence with bracts to 6mm long, white or purplish flowers with sinuated margin, glabrous calyx 25mm x 25mm, coriaceus sepals, glabrous white corolla 60mm long, winged pedicels & peduncles. Angular capsule surrounded by persistent calyx to 40mm diameter, thick fleshy turnip-like root
