Deciduous woody vine or erect shrub with glabrous or puberulent lenticellate branches, sometimes variegated. Glabrous ternately 2-3 pinnate, 5-13 foliolate leaves to 300mm long, toothed mucronate leaflets to 70mm long glabrous above with bifid or trifid tendrils. Puberulous terminal or leaf-opposed corymbs or cymes to 90mm long x 60mm, greenish-yellow or white flowers to 2mm across, puberulent calyx, 5 petals to 2.8mm long. Glabrous red or black berry to 10mm.
