Terminal leaf-tendril climber with 4-winged or unwinged glabrous branches, wings dentate. Simple leaves to 100mm x 15mm, glabrous or tomentose above, tomentose beneath with solitary tendril. Terminal heads, 55mm long orange-red flowers, 16-20 reddish phyllaries in 3-10 series, outer series to 10mm x 8mm, inner series 30mm x 12mm. 9-10 orange ray florets 25mm x 6mm, tube to 12mm long, yellow bilabiate disc florets with tube 24mm long. Striate glabrous achenes to 5mm long with white or grey pappus to 25mm long.
