Herbaceous climber to 8m, with pubescent simple or bifid tendrils, large tuberous root, 5-foliolate ;eaves faintly toothed or entire, yellow flowers, male racemes with bracts to 20mm long, calyx to 6mm long with pilose lobes, corolla to 25mm diameter, solitary ebracteate female flowers with calyx lobes longer & narrower than male, red fruit to 75mm long with 8-10 short wings
