Simple or bifid tendril glabrous climber to 6m with tuberous roots. 9-15 foliolate compound leaves, leaflets to 60mm long, simple or lobed & toothed sometimes slightly hairy on veins above. 25mm yellow flowers , male solitary flowers with bracts to 25mm diameter, corolla 50mm diameter with purple eye, yellow petals to 26mm x 15mm. Female inflorescence with bracts, flowers smaller & more pointed. Fruit dark green with greyish-white spots to orange red to 85mm long with bract to 130mm x 70mm
