Large woody liana with glabrescent striate young twigs, older branches becoming striate with brown lenticels. Coriaceous nearly glabrous leaves to 130mm x 60mm glabrous above & red-brown hairy beneath. 1-3 flowered axillary fascicles with minute bracts, 2mm x 3mm sepals rusty pubescent outside & glabrous inside, coriaceous orange outer petals to 11mm x 9mm red-brown tomentose outside pubescent inside to 12mm long, inner petals to 5mm x 2.5mm grey-woolly outside glabrous within. Glabrous dull orange fruit 10mm diameter
