Woody scandent shrub or tree with angled tomentose-pilose branches with prickles. Pinnate leaves with 8-25 pairs of pubescent mucronulate leaflets to 13mm x 6mm becoming glabrate above, villous beneath, pinnae 3-10 pairs. Sweetly perfumed glabrate white flowers in axillary and terminal racemes or panicles to 20mm long, pubescent corolla. Puberulent red fruit with turning brown 60mm x 15mm, spines, recurved prickles.
