Large woody ferrugineous pilose twining vine with leaves to 100mm x 55mm. Single or paired scarlet flowers to 50mm long with bracts to 40mm x 10mm, red, pink or white glabrous corolla to 50mm long with lobes 5mm long. Keeled puberulent black fruit to 20mm long.tomentose fruit 20mm x 10mm.
