Coarse woody vine with pilose young stems. Leaves to 132mm x 63mm, sparsely scabrous above & pilose beneath. Pilose racemes with pubescent bracts to 1.5mm x 0.5mm. Calyx tube to 1.2mm long, green pilose lobes to 6.5mm x 3.6mm glabrous inside. Brown corolla sometimes pale purple in centre, tube to 4mm long & lobes to 5.5mm x 7mm, fleshy purple or reddish-purple corona. Ferrugineous pilose follicles green or greeny-black to 150mm x 35mm with scattered conicle prickles to 4mm x 3mm.
