Liana or twining shrub from tuberous rhizome with downy branches, striate branchlets, simple-trifid tendrils. 2-foliolate leaves with terminal trifid tendril to 230mm long. Glabrous leaflets to 150mm x 75mm+. Axillary or terminal few- flowered racemes to 2800mm long with bracts to 3mm long of 1-21 flowers, 60mm long deep-red to rose-pink flowers yellow in centre with 15mm lobes, calyx to 17mm long with lobes to 9mm long, lilac or purple corolla to 70mm long with pale purple limb to 25mm diameter. Fruit a flattened glabrous brown capsule to 1300mm x 150mm
