large evergreen herbaceous twiner or scandent shrub with pubescent or glabrous striate branches. Leaves to 145mm x 90mm, finely pubescent on both surfaces. Axillary & terminal solitary or cyme-like inflorescences with small bracts, 50mm long red or orange axillary tubular flowers, villous inside, glabrous outside, calyx with 4 lobes to 11.5mm x 4mm, bright red corolla to 60mm lon with lobes to 5mm long, glabrous outside, densely pubescent within. Mostly glabrouscapsule to 15mm x 8mm
