Liana to 45m, sometimes a shrub or tree, sometimes spiny with lenticellate branchlets. Imparipinnate leaves 5-11 foliolate, leaflets glabrous above and pubescent beneath to 90mm x 30mm. Brown-pubescent terminal & axillary panicles. Sweetly scented violet flowers or pale purple, darker inside to 10mm long, standard to 8mm long, keel curved, panicles & calyx 4mm x 3mm clothed with rusty velvet. Fruit a glabrous pod 85mm x 35mm with coriaceous wing to 55mm x 20mm.
