Scandent twining spiny or unarmed vine, shrub or small tree, with recurved spines to 9mm long & rusty villous young branchlets. Imparipinnate pubescent leaves 17-70 foliate, leathery leaflets glabrescent to 130mm x 15mm, petioles with 2 hooked prickles at base. Pubescent terminal or axillary panicles or corymbs to 250mm long with deciduous glabrous bracts 2mm long. 5-lobed calyx 6mm x 5mm with pilose lobes, pale lilac or dark purple corolla, standard to 9mm long, sericeous outside, whitish wings 3mm wide, whitish keel curved. Pubescent or glabrous brown legume 65mm x 15mm with wing 15mm wide.
