Subshrub or woody vine with lanuginose branches becoming glabrescent. Leaves to 180mm x 50mm, staminate flowers to 24mm wide with 5-6 series of phyllaries, outer series to 15mm x 2.5mm, inner series to 20mm x 1.5mm, about 100 disc florets with 5-lobed corolla to 20mm long & lobes 2mm long. Female flowers to 30mm wide with 8-9 series of phyllaries, outer phyllaries to 15mm x 3.2mm, inner ones to 22mm x 3mm, about 21 ray florets, corolla to 20mm long with tube to 15mm long, disc florets to 270 with corolla 20mm long & lobes 1.5mm long.. Achenes to 4mm long with pappus to 18mm long.
