Deciduous more or less twining shrub with pubescent branches & shedding bark. Pubescent thickish leaves or glabrous above & hairy beneath to 120mm long, upper 2 leaves connate. Terminal spikes of flowers with connate bracts , fragrant 20mm pale yellow flowers red inside, yellow corolla maturing reddish to 25mm long pubescent inside & puberulent outside, 2-lipped tube pubescent within. Fruit pale red berry
