Scandent shrub, subshrub or herb to 3m with pubescent or glabrate stems. Leaves pubescent above strigose beneath to 100mm x 40mm. White or blue, violet or pink flowers to 9mm long in terminal or axillary cymes or panicles with bracteal leaves, 21 flowered heads, hirsute flowers 5mm high, villous phyllaries. Hhirsute white achenes to 3mm long with 6mm white bristles
