Tendril climber, bark dotted with lenticels, downy young branches. Coriaceous glabrescent leaves 125mm x 66mm, hairy on mid-rib below. Flowers solitary or in axillary cymes with small hirsute bracts, calyx 3mm long pubescent on back with 4-5 sepals, violet & white or entirely violet or white corolla, tube 17mm long pubescent or glabrous without, & lobes 17mm long. Yellow beaked fruit 100mm x 50mm

Fruit edible, provides inferior rubber, latex used as bird lime.
