Annual or perennial glabrous slender herbaceous twining or trailing vine with pinnately dissected mucronate leaves 8-10 pairs, leaves to 100mm x 60mm, puberulous or glabrous. 30mm long red or white(rare) long tubular flowers axillary solitary or in cymes with minute bracts, mucronulate sepals outer ones to 4.5mm inner ones to 6mm long, glabrous scarlet, or sometimes white, corolla with tube 35mm long & limb 20mm diameter with 5 lobes to 20mm across. Glabrous 4-valved light brown fruit capsule to 10mm long surrounded by persistent calyx at base.
