Herbaceous hairy annual twiner with entire or 3-lobed pilose leaves to 150mm x 120mm, strigulose both sides, hairy stems. Axillary solitary or umbels to 5 flowers with bracts to 7mm long, 70mm purple-blue, pink, red with white centres or white flowers with white tubes, hairy sepals to 16mm long, rosy purple, blue or white corolla to 60mm long. Glabrous capsule to 10mm diameter with persistent hispid sepals.
Widely naturalised to weed proportions in some areas.
Seeds have medicinal uses.
