Perennial glabrous twining liana with angulate branchlets. 3-lobed leaves to 200mm x 150mm with undulate toothed margins. Few to 9-flowered cymes with bractlets to 2mm long. White to pale mauve flowers with mucronate sepals to 24mm x 15mm, lilac or violet corolla to 110mm long.

Medicinal uses, forage, sand binder for dunes, roots & leaves as famine food, roasted leaves used for caulking canoes.
