Annual or perennial herbaceous twiner to 7m, angular hairy stems, young stems silvery-pubescent, can have soft prickles on stem. Leaves downy on veins both surfaces, to 100mm x 90mm . 5-9 flowered axillary cymes with 3mm bracteoles, 40mm purple or blue flowers white inside, downy towards base, coriaceous sepals to 7mm x 5mm, purple corolla to 40mm long with tube white outside & yellow inside, blue lobed limb 30mm diameter. Glabrous capsule to 12mm x 5mm
