Twining perennial herb to 4m with pubescent bristley stems. Pubescent leaves to 200mm x 150mm. 1-3 flowered axillary cymes of rose-violet flowers to 60mm long, bracteoles to 8mm long, spiny sepals to 25mm x 4mm with white hairs, cream or white corolla to 70mm long with limb 50mm diameter.
