Robust woody twiner with bristly hairs on stems, or glabrescent. Coriaceous strigose leaves to 180mm x 120mm, glabrous or pubescent above, pubescent or tomentose on nerve beneath. 40mm long pink-purple flowers deeper purple in throat, flowers in axillary many-flowered cymes to 120mm long with bracts to 13mm x 8mm, hairy sepals 12mm x 3mm, larger in fruit, glabrous mauve or red-violet corolla to 55mm x 32mm, darker inside. Capsule to 10mm diameter.
