Herbaceous vine or climbing or erect shrub to 3.5m with glabrous branches. Imparipinnate glabrous leaves 100mm long with usually 9 leaflets to 36mm x 20mm. Racemes with 20-40 flowers, pinkish-green & maroon or red or pale yellow with red margins flowers, calyx 1mm long. corolla 10mm long variegated red & green glabrous outside, 30mm long x 3mm glabrous pod or with dark-brown rusty hairs
