Climbing, creeping or erect herb or shrub, branches glabrous, scabrous serrate leaves to 60mm x 8mm, hairy or clothed with velvety down, leaves downy above, scabrous beneath or glabrous both surfaces terminating in a bristle, axillary solitary flowers or fascicles with 2-8 flowers, 4-lobed calyx, white or blue corolla to 14mm long, white tube to 8mm long x 1.5mm diameter with violet, white, pink or violet-spotted lobes to 5mm long, hairy or glabrous ribbed fruit to 4mm long, 3 longitudinal ribs
