Tall annual herbaceous simple or bifid-tendril climber with pubescent angled stems. Rough leaves to 130mm x 140mm, with long hairs. Male racemes of yellow flowers, calyx tube to 22mm long with teeth to 17mm long, petals to 30mm x 25mm. Solitary 25mm yellow female flowers, calyx tube to 12mm long with 8mm teeth, petals to 20mm x 20mm. pubescent fruit to 80mm long x 40mm. Hairy fruits
