Herbaceous simple tendril liana with long white hairs all over, brownish hairy stems. Spinulose-denticulate leaves to 400mm x 200mm, entire or up to 7-lobed, pilose above & tomentose lanate beneath. Staminate inflorescence to 250mm long of 20mm long yellow or red flowers with white-pubescent red calyx to 8mm x 6mm & lanate sepals to 20mm long, velvety yellow petals to 12mm long. Racemes of pistillate flowers with calyx tube to 18mm long & red sepals to 12mm long, yellow or orange petals to 12mm long. Oblong green fruit to 45mm, fringed white, rotten fish smell
