Evergreen twining, prickly liana to 15m, trailer or scandent shrub with grey-downy branches and recurved prickles to 10mm. Bipinnate paripinnate 3-5 lobed leaves to 1m long, 12-24 mucronate yellow-pubescent to glabrous leaflets to 65mm x 30mm. Scented 10mm long yellow flowers, standard tinged with red spots, in terminal or supra-axillary spiked pubescent racemes 600mm long with bracts to 15mm x 1mm with twin prickles. Rusty pubescent calyx with recurved lobes, sepals to 10mm x 3mm, villous both sides, 4 petals 10mm long x 3mm, standard petal to 5mm x 4mm with red patches, claw to 4mm x 2mm, other petals to 10mm x 4mm. 10mm long. Coriaceous legume 100mm x 50mm densely prickly & villous inflated yellow pod, persistent style.
