Scandent shrub or liana to 10m, young growth densely puberulent, branchlets with exfoliating red to red-brown bark. Mucronate leaves in whorls of 3-4 to 60mm x 30mm, sparsely pubescent above, densely so beneath. Pendent axillary flowers, 4 per node, tube to 58mm x 5mm with bulbous base & narrowing to 4mm wide & 8mm at rim, 4 sepal lobes to 17mm x 4mm, 4 glabrous petals to 18mm x 5mm. PUbescent berries 12mm x 6mm unripe.
