Liana or tree with lenticellate pilose young branchlets, simple tendrils. Bifoliate leaves, coriaceous leaflets to 130mm x 80mm glabrous above sparsely pilose beneath. Axillary or terminal panicles to 250mm long, of fragrant flowers magenta-purple with white markings in throat to 43mm long with 12mm lobes, glabrate calyx puberulous outside to 11mm x 7mm with lobes to 1.3mm long, red when fresh, dark purple white tipped corolla to 40mm x 20mm, corolla tube 6mm x 2mm wth tomentose lobes to 25mm across. Fruit a glabrous lenticellate long pod to 390mm x 14mm
