Scandent shrub with coriaceous leaves to 500mm x 30mm with spiny dentate margins. Snow-white flowering bracts tipped wine-red, fruiting spadix to 40mm long x 13mm wide, base of leaves wine-red, flower spikes yellowish-brown. Fruit 3mm long.
