Large glabrescent climber with young twigs glabrescent & striate, coriaceous leaves to 220m x 90mm, glabrous above except midrib & pubescent beneath, terminal & leaf-opposed cymes with bracts, brown tomentose dark brown flowers to 35mm long, triangular sepals red-tomentose outside glabrous inside to 3mm long, coriaceous petals red-villous outside, pale pink & glabrous inside, outer petals to 35mm long, inner petals smaller & pale pink, glabrous or brown-pubescent fruit to 30mm long, stems red-villous
