Woody vine or scandent prickly shrub, hooked prickles, with 1-5 foliolate glabrous dentate leaves with spines on the nerves, leaflets to 35mm x 22.5mm. Terminal racemes or umbels with minute bracts, green or white flowers, calyx with bristly hairs and 5 minute teeth, 5 petals 2mm long, black drupe 5mm x 1.5mm, prickly branches & petioles, glabrous leaflets
