Vine-like evergreen glabrous shrub or small tree to 7m, spiny or smooth, with lax or trailing tetragonal branches, shrubs often climbing, pubescent when young . Serrate glabrate leaves to 80mm x 25mm. Terminal or axillary racemes to 150mm long with bracts, of pale blue to purple 5-lobed flowers to 13mm wide, calyx to 4mm long, bright lilac or sometimes white puberulent corolla to 10mm long with pubescent lobes, limb 9mm across. Globose yellow or orange drupe to 13mm diameter enclosed in persistent calyx.
