Semi-woody liana with red-pilose stems & flaky bark on older stems, frequently with adventotious roots. Red-pilose leaves to 130mm x 60mm. Solitary axillary flowers with red bracts to 5mm long, calyx lobes red to dark red to 30mm x 15mm, deeply toothed to fimbriate. White corolla with yellowish tinges inside to 40mm long. lobe with purple veins & red-pilose outside. Fleshy purple capsule to 16mm x 13mm with persistent calyx.
