Woody liana to 20m or scrambling scandent twining shrub with adventitious roots, many flowered cymes or erect hairy terminal panicles or fascicles to 300m long of white, pale purple or pinkish flowers, petals to 10mm long, calyx purple to 5mm long, corolla pink or blue, 4 glabrous petals 7mm x 7mm, each flower has 2 purple bracts 10mm x 4mm, fruit a glabrous berry yellowish-green, aging purple 8mm long x 6mm with persistent calyx, leaves downy beneath, glabrous above, branches with rusty tomentum, leaves with scurfy stellate down beneath, also on branchlets & panicles, branchlets & petioles with scattered bristles
