Large forest tuberous sparsely prickly climber with all parts hairy, glabrescent stems twining woody & spiny, 3-5 foliolate leaves 80mm x 40mm inflorescences glabrescent above with red hairs beneath, male raceme or spike with bracts axillary 700mm long, female axillary to 150mm long. Male flowers 1.6mm diameter, glabrous sepals 1mm long, spikes of female flowers to 1.3mm long, fruit a fawn woolly capsule aging black to 50mm with 15mm wide x 50mm wings at 90ยบ
