Spiny tuberous twiner with glabrescent prickly stems. 3-foliolate hairy or glabrescent leaves to 300mm long, leaflets to 250mm x 170mm. Male spikes in axillary panicles to 500mm long, flowers 3mm diameter with lobes 1mm long. Female spike to 400mm. Racemes of 3-winged leathery capsules to 70mm with wings to 15mm wide.
