Perennial rhizomatous bamboo with woody scandent zigzag culms. Culm sheaths pubescent with tawny hairs, glabrous culm-sheath blade to 70mm x 20mm. Glabrous leaves to 200mm x 33mm. Inflorescence with bracts, spikelets 3mm long, glumes to 1.5mm long, coriaceous lemma 2mm long, fleshy fruit
