Hemi-epiphytic sometimes scandent herb or shrub to 3m with stem roots, 4-angled hispid stems. Denticulate leaves to 350mm x 210mm, pubescent when young, glabrescent above, purple beneath. 30-40 flowered panicle to 50mm long with minute bracts, flowers 25mm diameter, calyx tube 8mm x 4mm & lobes 2mm high, white or white-flushed pink petals to 18mm x 5mm, calyx tube enlarging to 13mm x 8mm enveloping capsule to 12mm long.
