Herbaceous slightly succulent caudiciform tendril climber with angular striate stems to 7.5m, branched tendrils. 3-9 leaflets, toothed terminal leaflet to 75mm x 50mm with bristly hairs both surfaces or glabrous. Maroon & yellow flowers in axillary cyme to 100mm across, corolla to 2mm long, 4 petals. Glabrous green to dark brown-purple fruit 25mm across.
Fruits edible when black, medicinal uses, grown for fodder
