Herbaceous or woody glabrescent twiner to 5m with large tuberous root, mucronate leaves to 175mm x 125mm, hispid to nearly glabrous above, tomentose beneath. Male axillary or cauliflorous panicles to 300mm x 120mm, male flowers greenish with puberulous calyx to 2mm long, with 4 or 5 triangular lobes half as long, glabrous corolla 0.75mm long, female inflorescence similarto male to 190mm x 70mm, female flowers with 2 sepals 0.5mm x 0.5mm, 2 glabrous petals 0.5mm x 1mm, puberulous red drupe to 7mm x 5mm, with 3 rows of tubercles
