Dioecious pubescent simple or bifid annual tendril vine with glabrous stems. Digitate denticulate or crenulate scaberulous leaves with 5-7 leaflets, terminal leaflet to 150mm x 50mm. Up to 30 flowered male panicles or corymbs to 200mm long of greenish white or yellow 2.5mm flowers, glabrous calyx with tube to 4mm wide, setaceous calyx teeth, corolla 2mm long, female flowers to 2.5mm & 70mm x 30mm. Striated greenish fruits to 150mm long with prickles.
