Prostrate & climbing monoecious annual simple-tendril, scabrid-stemmed hairy climber with angular white-bristly stems, axillary 8mm yellow female flowers, male flowers solitary or fascicled with hispid calyx & corolla, globose fruits 70mm yellow spotted marked with sordid red white or green bands with spines, plant has unpleasant odour, 3-5-lobed coriaceous leaves 32mm across scabrous both surfaces, lobes entire or toothed
