Trailing or climbing annual monoecious herb, hispid on most vegetative parts, ribbed stems to 1.5m, simple tendrils to 80mm long, mucronate palmately 5-lobed leaves, denticulate lobes, leaves to 140mm x 130mm, unisexual inflorescence, hispid male flowers in fascicles or racemes, hispid calyx lobes to 2mm long, mucronate corolla lobes to 22mm x 12mm, hispid outside glabrous inside, solitary female flowers similar to males, sparsely hairy glabrescent pale green fruit to 55mm x 40mm with darker longitudinal markings
