Fruiting Times
Herbaceous monoecious yellow-brown hispid scabrous simple-tendril vine prostrate or scandent with angled grooved stems to 4m. Pentagonal coriaceous entire or 3-7-lobed leaves villous scabrous above, hairy beneath to 110mm x 110mm somewhat 5-angled. Male axillary fascicles or twin yellow or white flowers to 2mm, calyx tube 3mm long with 5 hispid lobes to 3mm x 0.75mm, pubescent corolla to 30mm long, lobes to 3mm long, female flowers axillary solitary or in fascicles of 5-10, 1.5mm yellow or white flowers, calyx & corolla as male, hispid ovary. Fleshy fruit in axillary clusters of 2-8 a smooth dark scarlet-red round berry to 12mm diameter.
Edible fruit. Various medicinal uses.
